Between their medieval extinction and the 1980s, when Wild Boar farming began, only a handful of captive Wild Boar, imported from the continent, were present in Britain. Since the 1990s the growing demand for Wild Boar meat has led to an increasing number of farms. Escaping Wild Boar have enabled significant populations to become re-established in the wild.
